Charlie that turned out wonderful!   Thanks for sharing this..  I especially like the quote and the thistle...  some day I would like to visit Scotland...You do such fabulous work!  I am going to try to watch the movie tonight...😊

Thank you very much! The handkerchief his wife gives him at their wedding also has thistles embroidered on it. I watched it a couple of nights ago. It’s one that ages well. 🙂

Mel Gibson as William Wallace in Braveheart. One of my all time favorite movies. 🙂 The thistle flower, under the quote, is the national flower and emblem of Scotland. In one of my favorite scenes in the movie, Wallace's future wife gives him one at his father's funeral. Also some of the prettiest music of the movie in this scene, A Gift Of A Thistle.

Cut in white oak with a stained poplar backer. About 7" x 8".

Thank you, Charlie, for showing not only your work, but the explanation of the thistle flower and the video as well. One of my favorite movies as well. I though maybe you might like my Braveheart pattern as well.

Great job Jim! I like that a lot. I had a dear friend who is a former missionary to Guatemalan orphans comment that he'd like to have the one I made so I'll be cutting another one for my wall. There was no way I couldn't give it to him as he's been such a blessing in my life, gives his life to serve others, and is a true "warrior poet." :) Again, great job on that.
