I left a few things off that I thought weren’t necessary. 1756 holes drilled and only a dozen blades. FrankEV
Wow. Great work! Old scool Scrolling! How many hours? What Blade? What are yoiu going to do with it - sell, keep, donate? Im not afraid of the number of holes or even of the detailed assenbly, but If I were to make one like this, I would have no place to display it in my small home. I have been working on it since The middle of May off and on whenever I had time. I used Pegas #3 Rev. I am keeping it for now but this is the third and final clock I'm going to make. One of my kids will probably end up with one of them because we are out of display room. FrankEV
Wichman
Very, very nice. Good to see others still doing the "old school" cutting and assembly. My pricing guide from Wildwood (1999) shows a low ball selling price of $600, the high ball price of $2000 and a suggested price of $1500. I would love to make this type of project, but I don't think anyone in town would be willing to pay what it is worth. I know you didn't make it to sell, but whoever ends up with it needs to know the value. heppnerguy

Dave Monk
That is totally awesome. I would have a problem gluing up that 1/4" since I am so shaky. Did you finish it after it was put together or before?

Bill WIlson
Outstanding! I love seeing folks still making these kinds of projects. Fine craftsmanship. It's long been my dream to make one of those classic fretwork clocks, but haven't found the time and no one I know has the room for it, so I don't know what I would do with it, once complete. People here in Iowa won’t pay that kinda money for a clock.

Dak0ta52
All three of your clocks are outstanding! I, too, have wanted to tackle such a project but my hesitation is getting the quality wood needed. The availability of the wood is very limited in my area and the money to order such wood is also limited. I try to let my few sales fund the cost of my hobby. I made the whole clock out of a 6foot long and 8 inch wide piece of cherry and a few off cuts from other projects. I did a lot of resawing on the bandsaw. heppnerguy
I really enjoy those fret clocks and have made several but find the problem with them is the space they take up and people really are not interested much in them for themselves, so I decided not to bother making them any longer also. Nice work and they look marvelous. Thanks for posting. Dick heppnerguy
Oldmansbike
I agree with you Dick my kids don’t really want them and we are out of room here so I’m not going to make any more unless someone asks me to. Another problem with them is dusting them. They are hard to dust. In the winter time I will take a small brush and some Howard’s feed and wax and go over the whole clock when my wife tells me they need dusted. Oldmansbike
Here is the pictures of the side and back. The top hole is the access hole for the movement and the bottom hole is if you want to put a light in it.
jerry walters
I was a navigator in the Air Force, so time wass very important to me. Have several clocks, wrist watches, pocket watches, plus cell phone, and Tv's that all have the time. Of course, they are all don't show the same time, but it's close enough for me. Wasn't true as a navigator, the Air Force was pretty sticky about time. Some people might have a fetish for clocks. The only place I don't have a clock is in my shop. I have always wanted to try one of these patterns, but afraid I would run out of TME before I finished it.
