Trka2002
I’ve been trying to make compound cuts in 1 1/2 maple but the wood keeps getting burn marks. I’ve tried slowing my feed rate, adjusting blade speed, and rapping the piece with clear packing tape. I can use oak without the burning, but can’t figure out how to use maple without burning. Anyone have any advise.
Sycamore67
What blade are you using? A skip tooth blade is good for thicker woods like compound cuts. Other blades with reverse teeth are more likely to burn.

Denny Knappen
I use Pegas #6 Super Skip for all my compound cutting. I just finished cutting 1 1/2" square stock Hard Maple with no problems.

Using a size smaller should be the cause.

Sycamore67
I use FD Polar #5 for compound cuts which is similar to the Pegas you are using. In my experience, cutting 1-1/2" maple is difficult. I typically do not cut maple thicker than 1-1/4". You can go to a coarser blade but turns and details are more difficult. Wichman
My only advise would be to add another blower (aquarium pump) to provide additional air cooling to the blade.
Roberta Moreton
I wrap my blanks in packing tape. All 4 sides, and use a skip tooth blade.
scrollerpete
I agree with Roberta use packing tape all around and no more burn marks
