Really nice, Dick. It's hot down here in the Old Pueblo too. But CG has us beat quite often. My shop is 20X40 with 20' celings and I have a portable swamp cooler and two large fans. Even so, at 117° I'm usually in the house. My day usually starts at 04:00 or earlier.  By noon, it's nap time, anyway. Buck up my friend. Cooler weather is on it's way.

Awesome job, Dick. I can feel your pain concerning the heat. Here in NC we have the heat and humidity which kicks the heat index up several degrees. I run two ceiling fans and a shop fan continuously while in my shop. The wind from these fans along with the perspiration at least keeps it somewhat tolerable. I've considered getting a mister but with the sweat I'm already generating, I feel it would just saturate me rather than cool me. In AZ where you have the dry heat a mister may be beneficial for you. Just remember to drink plenty of fluids.

That is a very nice project, Dick. Would look very nice on my wall.

My brother-in-law lives in Scottsdale. Tells me it doesn't really get hot there until the temperature is above 105. Is that true. I live in Colorado and has been very nice here. The last couple of days in the upper 70's and low 80's. Right now, 87 here, very nice. Hang tight, should start cooling down sometime around Christmas.

I know. It is supposed to be a little cooler in a couple of days. I do have a new project started, using a technique I have never tried before.  I do not think the first attempt is going to work out all that well but usually when I try something new, it takes time to fine tune it so that it comes out as I want it to.

Dick, I really love your work!  Great Carving too!  I am sorry it is so hot down there...it is pretty hot the next couple of days here and then it cools down, thank goodness.  I guess that will give you more time to learn magic tricks. 😄  I still can only do the one and often times I drop my quarter.  I think I need a video of the others as even with an explanation I still can't do it.  Maybe you will have a chance to come back up to Oregon again, I know it is hard but if you do, you must let @Scrappile and I know so we can have a reunion!  Again, fantastic work!

The temperature in the shop when I do not have my mini split AC on is about 108  degrees and not much fun to work in. As far as a mister goes, I believe the misting would not be very beneficial in the shop as it would be putting way too much moistener into the air and would probably cause the stored wood to warp. But one idea  that would work would be to take a Tshirt and get it really wet and then wring it out by hand and put it on,wet. Then turn a fan on yourself and it would keep you cool for about an hour. I just have not tried it yet but I know it would help immensely. You are very right about drinking a lot of water, which I am not very good about at any time.

After  living here for 6 years, one understands the difference between a couple of degrees over 100 degrees things turn intolerable for humans. So comparing 104 to above that and often 115 to over 120, then 104 seems like a piece of cake, so to speak. 90's are still quite warm but don't feel really hot any more. So your brother-in- law speaks the truth.

Very nice Dick, we heard on the news how hot it was in AZ this summer, that is why we went in the fall or winter. Now it got way too expensive, rental of accommodation, car rental and travel insurance cannot afforded it anymore.

I sure understand your possition on traveling and staying for the winter here, or anyway for that matter. I too could not afford to do that. A lot of Canadians have a second house here but now the housing has gotten expensive along with everything else. I hope others can continual to come down for the winter, as I have several good Canadian friends here in the winter and I would hate to see that change.

I was born and raised in Ajo. I remember some hot temps.

Really nice cutting. :)

My wife and I just took a trip to Ajo and Why to visit them again. Ajo is a rather beautiful and interesting town. If you still was living here you have me wanting to make a visit there to meet you and see your work. I have met and make several friends here in The Village by making the effort to do so.

Looks great Dick. I just finished up my first attempt of carving also. I didn't use any knives or chisels. I used a rotary tool with burrs. I guess that is called carving. The problem I had is was trying to sand out my cutting.  I totally understand the feeling of the heat.
