Popular Post jimmyG
I have so much to learn and I'm not getting any younger... Decided to print out that practice pattern with all of the scrolling examples to try but it was boring... So I decided to test out the different blades I have on another SG pattern Even if I screw it up it's still more fun with the pattern. Tested it on 1/4" BB plywood with the pattern spray glued on clear shelf paper and got a feel for the different brands and styles of blades. It still turned out okay as long as you don't look too close. crupiea, OCtoolguy, Mark SW and 7 others 9
jerry walters
I understand your practicing. Very boring. Reminds when I took piano lessons. Practice, practice, practice- hated it. If I could play something I recognized would make it fun. Took piano lessons for eight years and hated every minute of it. As far as your cut for something real and so see some results. Looks Great. By the way, Welcome to the club. You will get lots of help here. Jerry OCtoolguy and jimmyG
BadBob
When I first started I learned by cutting small animal cutouts the kids loved them and they were simple enough for me to get the feel for scrolling. jimmyG

Jerry Jerry, when I was 8 years old my parents asked my if I would like to learn a musical instrument and if so what one. I said yes and I'd like to learn guitar. So they bought me an accordian and I too took lessons for 8 years. When I turned 16 I stopped and never played it again. I hated every minute and can't stand the sound of an accordian. So, they enrolled me in piano lessons. 4 year's later they gave up. I still can't play the piano but I love to hear a good drummer get it on. When I was 16 after 8 years of piano lessons my parents finally aggreed. I got quite good, played in an accordion band and also played in a trio with two other accordion players. Won a couple of prizes and would travel with the accordion band to other states for accordion contests. Accordions were quite popular in the 50's and 60's. I don't have any regrets in life, but do have a couple of wishes one of which was I would have kept my accordion. Wanted to buy one after I got married but my wife wouldn't let me, she hated the accordion. Jerry OCtoolguy and Gene Howe 1

Gene Howe
As opposed to the piano, I really enjoy my practice sessions at the scroll saw. OCtoolguy
wombatie
Practice patterns are OK but they do get boring. Simple outlines are a good way to start and you can give them to kids to color and keep. Love you new practice piece, you did well.
