Dick,

Very well done.  That image is popular. I'v seen it many times and I think I may have it downloaded it into my patterns library already.

The Sky Blue  backer color works nicely.  You know my style...I would have added color to the cutting itself, but that is just me.

OK...here is the big question: Where is the Frame?🤑

JFI, when I do a cutting like this I would enlarge the Image and reduce the border to no more than 3/16" all around.  When mounted in a frame, with a 1/4" rabbet, the cut frame disapears and it image fills the fulll opening of the actual frame I use.   I find that kind of presentation is much more plesant to view. But again, that is just me.

actually, do to the extreme record braking heat here in Southern Arizona..I choose to not make a frame for this one and just use the pattern's 'kind of' frame instead. However I do agree on using a frame and as far as painting goes, I told my wife I wish I had the talent to paint but everything I try to  paint, at least for the most part, I wish I had not tried as I most often become very discouraged with the outcome. That said, I did purchase some paints that I am anxious to try and see if I can master it enough to begin to be happy with the results. So I have to agree with all you said but I hope you will begin to see some of what you are talking about in the very near  future.  Thanks for your hints. I love to see your work as the frames and painting are done so well. I certainly agree that color  when done properly add a tremendous amount of interest and beauty to any project, if done well

You just had to move from Heppner, didn't you?  You could have cool 70° weather this week!  But in spite of the heat you did beautiful work.

Thanks  Paul. It does look like we may have a couple of days that will not be in the triple digits later this week. I have a request pattern I will try to get knocked out too. I just made the pattern for it today and I just might start it tomorrow instead of doing my normal 5:30 am walk and coffee with the local guys.  If I get into the shop soon enough and the night time tempts  get below 87 degrees during the night.

Hope to chat with you soon and see how things are going at your house

Looks great. Could you put some AC in your garage?

Nice job, Dick. And as far as you trying out the paint you purchased, with your talent I don't think you will have any problems at all. I cut and painted a piece when I first started scrolling and used a paint brush. Since then I've purchased a couple air brushes and found they do a fantastic job. You can use cheap acrylic hobby paint from Walmart and just thin it down with a little water. Harbour Freight has a couple air brushes that work well for me.

I will add that I limit my painting due to the fact that I like the beauty of the wood. In most cases I try to stay with stain and typically only paint when there is a defect in the wood or I screw up and have to hide it with the paint.

not sure how successful I will get with my painting. I do have several air brushes but really have not taken the time to understand them. I put way too many things off in my old age  so I really do not have any valid complaints.

Drink plenty of water and stay cool.
Lovely looking piece, pity you didn't keep it for long.  :)

Drinking enough water  is something I do not do very well but I am trying to improve on it. Takes time to make new habits, I  quess.

as I said previously, I am almost never happy when I color my work and I did try again on a project I had painted before just to see if I could do any better. Here is the results....and this is an improvement over what it was like before this one, so maybe I can get the hang of it if I keep trying.  I hope so, anyway.
