Inkscape question

Good afternoon,

I have inkscape 1.2 on my mac laptop. The background and the box where you can print from are black, how do I change them to white. I went in document to change them to white, but when i reopen inkscape they are black again. I have deleted the program and reinstalled it, same thing, Thx RJ

I'm no expert by any means but I think the setting is in "document properties" in the file menu line. If I recall, it's there.

Edit: Ok, I just went there and under "display" there is a color chart and the setting you want is "page". Yours is probably set all the way to black. Just slide the slider all the way to the right and it should turn it white.

                                Interface>

                                                 Theming>

                                                                  Uncheck the "use dark theme" box

This is a fine example of why I give up on Inkscape (and Gimp).  So many steps/ways to do such simple things.  And inkscape for windows is not the same as inkscape for Mac.

Ok thx, Wichman I must have a different edition then you, my preferences is under inkscape heading, but went through that process that you have instructed but still all black,

Ray, thx for your help also I have done what you have suggested but when i close program and reopen goes to black again,

I found a short video on youtube that shows how to set "document properties" default settings. I tried it but it wouldn't work for my latest version of Inkscape. Inkscape is frustrating but I keep trying to learn it. Little by little it's starting to be useable for the little that I need.

Ok i think i got it worked out, inkscape beginners forum gave me this, after i change the colors to white (desk top, page ) save as a templete and there is a box to check for making it your default setting, Thx again everyone, RJ

I am too old for this knowledge

Thanks RJ. That works. Now I won't have to do it every time I start a new project.
