Installing a font

Recommended Posts

Good morning to everyone, HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY to our Canadian friends and HAPPY COLUBUS DAY to all here in the USA-----I don't care if that offends anyone!

Could someone please explain to a old guy who shouldn't be using a computer anyway, how to install fonts on Inkscape, I think tried every approach know to mankind, but

NO LUCK.  I'm trying to come up with a font that I can cut out of a project, but they have ruled out a stencil font, so I will be trying to find some kind of script font that I may be able to doctor up.

Thank you and I hope you all can njoy this sunny DRY day

Rick

Good Morning

If you are using Windows 10.  Use file explorer to find font.  Right click on the TTF or the OTF.  Then click for all users.  Should be there in Inkscape when you reopen.

With Windows 11.  Double click on ttf and you should see the font.  Click on Install and good to go. Or if you right click on font you should see only install only.

If you are using a MAC you are on your own.  I think there are videos on this as it is more than one step.

For script fonts the are cutable.  Here is one I use.  If this does not work let me know.

This not first time someone has asked me about this for MAC

On your Mac, do any of the following:
  1. In the Font Book app , choose File > Add Fonts to Current User. ...
  2. Drag the font file to the Font Book app icon in the Dock.
  3. Drag the font file to the Font Book window.
  4. Double-click the font file in the Finder, then click Install in the dialogue that appears.

This is just a quick THANK YOU to you Don for helping me with my question about installing a font in inkscape.

As its turns out, my MAC got indigestion 🤢 as I was attempting to do the install, the darn thing is only 4 years old and prior to doing the latest APPLE upgrade, it worked great.  The computer has been in the digital hospital since Tuesday and we have made 3 trips to the Danbury Mall since, an hour each way, and guess who isn't the happiest MAC user right now.  We are headed there again today(Saturday), because the diagnosis is not good and I have to decide if I want to purchase another APPLE product, unfortunately, Ann Marie and I both use MACs and we have everything in the house tied in together.....we'll see.

I am a old Microsoft user from way back.  When I was working we bought a company that all the sales guys used Apple and they didn't want to change.  My tech guys comment at the time was "Real men don't use mice".  With them him being busy I went and bought the Macs - hooked them all together with the printer and it was instant network.  I then sent my Tech guy to learn all about Mac and he converted the whole office.

Now I can't do without a mouse.

Good luck.  I hope they can get it fixed.
