Mabel H.
Made a project and finished it with water based varnish and want to ad a stencil if possible. Has anyone done this? Also wondering if you know a good source for stencils.
jollyred
I was looking for stencils a month or so ago and found tons of them on Amazon. I would think you would want to put the varnish on after the stencils so they are protected from damage. If you already have a varnish on another coat will do the same thing. Dan
I made some pen boxes with labels. I used waterslides (decals). My process was to finish the wood as normal. I used water-based poly. After the last coat I sanded with 220 grit, removed the dust, and applied the waterslide being sure to remove all the water and air beneath the label. I let the pieces sit overnight then applied two coats of the same poly in the spray can. Seemed to work well for me. I had tried using clear labels but didn't like the thickness of the label.
