Popular Post Charlie E Posted February 29, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted February 29, 2024 I tweaked a great pattern by Sam Custodio. I absolutely love good finger style guitar picking and have tried many times to attain the skill but it's just not in the cards for me. I listened to acoustic guitar music through my headphones while cutting this and it was so therapeutic. The wood is 1/2" Sycamore and the backer was a thin plywood bottom from a repurposed dresser drawer. "♫ Who draws the crowd and plays so loud? Baby it's the guitar man. ♫ munzieb, dgman, JackJones and 22 others 24 1 Quote
Dave Monk Posted March 1, 2024 Report Posted March 1, 2024 Very nice job. In my next life hopefully I'll be a musician. I also tried playing the guitar but I didn't have the gift. I practiced for hours but never got any better. Charlie E 1 Quote

I still piddle with mine sporadically but I’ve been trying to learn the finger picking part of John Prine’s, How Lucky, and have spent 3 or 4 days on the first measure and still stumble through it. My niece’s husband is a gifted guitarist and says it’s just practice and not a gift. I don’t buy it. MarieC 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted March 1, 2024 Report Posted March 1, 2024 That is wonderful! Beautiful! I would love to scroll that for my son. He carries a traveling guitar wherever he goes flying for Fedex. He has took lesson and practiced for many years.. If that is a pattern you are willing to share I would love a copy for him. If not,, I have done many others, he will not know the difference. wombatie Posted March 1, 2024 Report Posted March 1, 2024 I love guitar music but sadly when I left England I had to leave my guitar, I was just getting into it too. Could not afford a new one when we got to Australia, too many other things needed to set up home. Love the pattern and cutting Charlie you did a fabulous job. Marg Charlie E 1 Quote
bobscroll Posted March 1, 2024 Report Posted March 1, 2024 Good scrolling there Charlie! I like the wood you used and well finished! Thanks for posting, Bob Charlie E 1 Quote

Marg I hate that you had to leave your guitar. I had two guitars, one that I sold and one that I gave to a nephew, that I so wish I had back. I play some guitar but I'm not a "guitarist." My best memories of playing are from Guatemala. I used to go to an orphanage there to work for a week a couple of times a year. I learned a lot of Hispanic worship music and would sit in the evenings with some of the children from the home and sing. Priceless. I do think that the next best thing to being a gifted musician though is having a deep appreciation for good music. I've known many people who just don't get it and to me that's like missing one of your senses. Sad. wombatie 1 Quote
barb.j.enders Posted March 1, 2024 Report Posted March 1, 2024 What a beautiful pattern and cutting. Hubby is a guitarist. He has quite a collection, now about 15 of them. He is now getting into building them. Up to now it has just been kits. Latest one was an acoustic. He was looking over my shoulder when I stopped on this post. He really liked it. Does Sam have a site where the pattern can be obtained? Or would you be willing to share to me as well? Charlie E 1 Quote
Norm Fengstad Posted March 1, 2024 Report Posted March 1, 2024 I cut Sam Custido pattern a few years ago using 1/8 bb. the 1/2 inch gives it more character, good job Charlie E 1 Quote

heppnerguy Posted March 9, 2024 Report Posted March 9, 2024 I also like Sam Custodio's patterns although I have not see his page for a long time. I was going to stop at his house and chat with him a few years back but he was off fishing when I was through his town. I always enjoy your patterns and your work. Nicely done once more Dick heppnerguy Charlie E 1 Quote
