RichB Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 I have finally finished my clock with some pictures on Photobucket. It was a lot of fun. I am retired so I took some time doing it. I think it was 3 months about 2 or 4 hours on some days. I made some changes on the construction for wiring it which made it a lot easier. I purchased the plans from The Art Factory and the lumber from Ocooch Hardwoods and both were very helpful. I am willing to answer any questions and thanks for looking and I hope the link works. http://s159.photobucket.com/albums/t125 ... t%20Clock/ Bryan Bennett and bobscroll 2 Quote
WigWag Workshop Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 Jaw Dropping, Stunning, Beautiful, and all the other words, can't describe how well the clock turned out! This is a must for my workshop/train room! This is defiantly on my list of projects! Thanks so much for sharing the build details. -Steven Quote

RichB Posted June 6, 2012 Author Report Posted June 6, 2012 I thank all of you so much for all the great comments. I enjoyed this project so much that I just had to share it with everybody. It is prettty easy to build but you need a table saw because of the many square parts. I have become friends with Ben12 over this project. We were building it together using E-Mails and we are going to meet each other in the future. I make pens with my son and we do a few shows so I had to fit this in and it was well worth it. If anybody is going to build the clock in the future feel free to ask any questions you might have. Thanks again RichB Quote
Huntter2022 Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 You did a awesome job on it . I bought the plans last month when I seen Dirk and Karen at the Ohio scroll show . But haven't gotten to it yet . Thinking it be a good winter project Quote

RichB Posted September 27, 2013 Author Report Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) Thanks again everyone. I am now working on the Apostles Clock. I know for a fact it will take a lot longer then the Train Depot. Retirement gives me a lot of time. My wife is working her last day today. She loves to paint. We are going to try and work her painting with scrolling. We enjoy the sounds on the Train Depot every day. Edited September 27, 2013 by RichB Phantom Scroller and bobscroll 2 Quote
Bryan Bennett Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 I have recently finished a Music Box in the shape of a dressing table, which I thought was good.It did not take that long to complete. The train depot clock is probably the finest project that I have ever seen. I take that you still have steam locos I am very jealous of the sounds that you hear daily.I too have retired ( 2003 ) and also have the time to enjoy this great hobby of ours. Bryan Quote
Dan Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Excellent! It's a very attractive clock. Quote
bandaideman Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 thanks for finding the post. I was glad to see it. I have the pattern but it is in a small pile that I have named the Scares me to death to do. Now maybe I will move it to the to do list. did you get the sound and light kits. Your work is so great. I like that you were willing to show your plan of making. Thanks. Huntter2022 1 Quote
RichB Posted September 29, 2013 Author Report Posted September 29, 2013 Yes I did get the sound and lights. It was fun fitting all of the electronics in the depot. If you look at my pictures I try-ed to show everyone how I did it. I also made the top removable which helped. The lights only work when you turn them on to show the clock. The sounds go on each hour with a photo electric cell. This shuts the sound off at night. I am glad to help with any other questions. RichB Huntter2022 1 Quote

RichB Posted October 17, 2013 Author Report Posted October 17, 2013 Amazingkevin, I just got back from a trip and noticed your comments. Thanks to all. I could send it out to you but then I would have to build another. I am working on the Apostles Clock now and that will take a long time, and my wife says no way will the Depot Clock leave the house. I am so glad everyone who saw the pictures enjoyed them. I hope to do the same thing with the Apostles Clock but it will take longer. Thanks again to everyone. RichB Quote
