What kind of wood?

Wasn't sure where to put this, but I got a box of seconds from Ocooch and there's one I just can't figure our. So I'm looking for any help on what kind of wood this is.

I can tell it heavy and hard like red oak. And cuts like oak. My thought was white oak, but the grain just doesn't fit for me. 

Your thoughts?

Kind of resembles Beech I think.. but I could be wrong.

I agree it's probably white oak, but ash is another possibility.

I ordered a box of seconds from Ocooch and requested labels on the boards.  Sure, helped in identification.   Now back to my wood identification days at the University.

I've only bought one box of scraps and they were all labeled. Thank goodness.

Looks like beech.

I would definitely say it is Beech.

I absolutely agree with the two posts above mine.  Beech.   I would send you a picture of some, right now it is on the bottom of my wood pile.  I love to cut and use it on something, I want to have a rich warm look.

I say beech as well. very hard, cuts well with # 5 blade but could burn if I dont use tape
