artmill Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 This project was my first actual scrolling test, unfortunately I used Luan and it ended up with the ply falling out in areas . I had a problem with the luan sucking up the polyurathane spray. All in all it came out just ok . Thanks for looking Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 Nicely done. One of the ways to get around that is to use a drying oil such as Tung or Danish oil to seal the project and then just top coat with the other. Thanks for sharing it with us DW Quote
artmill Posted July 17, 2012 Author Report Posted July 17, 2012 Thanks for the suggestion, I will try that.... Quote
Jim Finn Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 Most of what I know about woodworking I learned by trial and error. Keep trying different woods and finishes and you will find what works best for you. Quote
Marshall Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 Looks good on this end , you may want to try some Walnut on this sometime ......you should make more -- well done ...... Quote

artmill Posted October 1, 2012 Author Report Posted October 1, 2012 Thanks guys, I have since started on new projects using different wood types. I went from the fryng pan into the fire so to speak, so I decided to make clocks for Christmas. I said to myself, this looks easy enough, boy was I wrong. I am now on the 4th one and it is getting easier (still difficult). Once I finish cutting them I will do the final finish on them and post them, until then, C-Ya..art Quote
