Ber Gueda
1. I am having real problems to find an adapter for my vac hose. The Pégas has a port of 63 mm, and I couldn't find something with a couple of more mm to fit. I have a temporal solution that doesn't suit me, and I would like something, ideally, on hard plastic. Did you have this problem and how did you solve it? 2. My Vac (it's a Karcher WP 6) has a plug to connect the tool. But it only works sometimes and when it works, it stops after a while. It only happens with the Pégas, not with my other tools. It seems as though the Pégas didn't "send" enough power to switch on the vac. Is this possible? Maybe you had a similar issue with your scroll saws and vacs and you can give me a hint of what's happening. Thanks! OCtoolguy
kmmcrafts
Question 1: My vacuum hose fits perfectly so I never had this issue.. but I was thinking if you know of someone with a 3d printer that could print out a adapter for the size you need might be the only solution you have.. or if you have one somewhat close in size and can wrap some electrical tape on the fitting to make it fit tighter might be an option? There was a person here on this site that was making some sort of adapters and selling them on their Etsy site but not sure exactly what they was making or who it was.. Maybe someone here will remember and chime in. Question 2: I don't have any first hand experience with this but I have read about it with other types of saws and vacuums and one persons solution if I remember correctly was they put a 3 way plug connector and had a light or something hooked to it so it'd draw enough power to turn the vacuum on correctly.. Wichman
To make a custom adapter for the vacuum port you can use a plastic water bottle ( disposable ) and a heat gun. The heat gun will shrink the plastic so that it's tight. #2, what Kevin said. OCtoolguy and Scrappile 1
jollyred
I have made a lot of adapters for hose connections from pvc water pipe. Find a diameter of pipe that is slightly smaller inside than the outside of the connector on the tool. Heat the end of the pvc pipe till it is flexible, then jam it on the connector. Let it cool and it will fit perfectly. You can do the same on the other end of the pvc for the connection to the hose, using one of the fittings that came with it. For connecting the vacuum to the saw, I used a power strip connected to a foot switch. I plug the vac and the saw into the strip, and when I step on the switch, both draw power from the strip. Both will start and stop at the same time. Tom OCtoolguy
Ber Gueda
Thank you for your hints. I already tried the trick heating the plastic bottle and it worked. I can't understand, though, why Pégas and some other manufacturers (like Holzstar) use a port that seems to be clearly complicated, since it's quite difficult to find the right adapters. I haven't tried yet the connection of the vac to the saw as some of you recommended. I will let you know it it works, just in case someone else has the same issue.
