Went back to some fretwork.  Steve Good pattern.  1/4" bbply.   Failed experiment with scrapbook paper for colour.  The glue caused it to wrinkle.  Finished with one coat of varathane.

I like your background color as it is not too dark and it brings our your cutting very nicely. Love it

There was a bit more sanding that I used to do.  And again, good thing lines are only a suggestion
