NC Scroller Posted September 2, 2024 Report Posted September 2, 2024 Judy Gale Roberts, the heart and soul of intarsia and the scroll saw world passed away after a short illness. I was blessed to take two classes with her and to meet her on several other occasions. Not only was she a talented artist but a gifted instructor and just a special person. Rest in peace my friend and mentor. Prayers for your husband Stephen and all who you touched through your life. Wichman, Scrappile, OCtoolguy and 3 others 4 2 Quote

TAIrving Posted September 3, 2024 Report Posted September 3, 2024 So sad. She was indeed a treasure. I am just getting into intarsia and had communicated with her briefly. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

barb.j.enders Posted September 3, 2024 Report Posted September 3, 2024 Such a loss. I was always thrilled when she "liked" or commented on any of my Facebook posts. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted September 3, 2024 Report Posted September 3, 2024 I just saw Steve Goods posting this morning and he included a video of Judy's shop from a few years ago and it is a must watch if you want to see some of the most extraordinary work by such a true artisan. The detail in her work is first rate. I got to see many of her pieces up close back in the day when we had scrollsaw picnics and gatherings. For those that do this kind of work, I am sure this hits even harder to lose such a talented person and a real gem of a human being. Hope this link works but if not check out Steve's site. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giDTAb-n6Xo NC Scroller, OCtoolguy and Juan Rodriguez 2 1 Quote
Norm Fengstad Posted September 3, 2024 Report Posted September 3, 2024 Big loss I have a few of her books and always dreamed of taking a class from her OCtoolguy 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted September 4, 2024 Report Posted September 4, 2024 I've never really met her or got into doing intarsia yet, but have seen the name thrown out there on the web a lot over the years. Prayers to the family and those close to her OCtoolguy 1 Quote
barb.j.enders Posted September 4, 2024 Report Posted September 4, 2024 One of her patterns was the Pattern a Month project for August. She was even offering advice two weeks before she passed from her hospital bed. It certainly made my "win" bittersweet. I received notice about my win the same day that her husband mentioned she was in a coma. She passed two days later. OCtoolguy and JTTHECLOCKMAN 1 1 Quote

Michael Romo Posted December 12, 2024 Report Posted December 12, 2024 So very sad to learn of Judy's passing. She introduced me to intarsia through the article in Wood magazine. Had the great pleasure of speaking to her by phone once and always dreamed of meeting this amazingly talented artist. Like so many I will be forever grateful for the wonderful art form she has taught us. Deepest sympathy to her family. M. Romo Dupont Washington OCtoolguy 1 Quote
