kmmcrafts
This came across my FB page.. I think some would make something similar if there were a pattern.. I found it funny.. I can see now many various versions of this in the bragging section in a few weeks, LOL.. My idea would be to make it a laser cut ornament and have a handsaw where I could personalize it with a name. Wish I was good at designing.. Wichman, OCtoolguy, Mike Crosa and 6 others 4

redwine
That truly belongs in everyone's workshop and especially in mine! I, at times, believe that my ruler and or tape measure moves what I measure and mark by shorting the measure a 1/4 inch or more! I really thank there are gremlins in my shop at times doing and moving items I just put down and its not there when I need it, than just a few minutes later I find it in a different place! I really like that sign and I may have to gather some already cut letters and make up one! Erv kmmcrafts and OCtoolguy 1

I was measuring with a T square and measured from the wrong side of it.. 1 side starts at number 1 and the other starts at 2"... needless to say my cut came out 2 inch too short.. LOL.. Then I had a piece that needed a cutout to go around the door.. not thinking I cut out on the wrong side so the piece fit perfect if I made the back of it the front, LOL.. Lucky those boo boos were small pieces and I didn't have to go pick up another sheet of siding.. I wouldn't of been too happy if that happened.. JTTHECLOCKMAN
There are many times when rules and tape measures are actually marked wrong. It is always a good idea to buy quality and to check the measuring device ahead of time and throw away any ones that are mismarked. BadBob
I got a good laugh from that sign. I am not much into signs, but I think I would cut this one for me if there were a good pattern. OCtoolguy

barb.j.enders
That is why I like scrolling. Just glue the pattern down and cut away. No measuring!! OCtoolguy
Norm Fengstad
love the saying Measure Once Cuss Twice that is a good motto for me OCtoolguy
BadBob
Every project I make involves measuring using rules or squares and sometimes both. I don't see how anyone could scroll without measuring unless they buy wood that is an exact fit for your project. If I need a 1/2-inch piece of wood, I look through my stash, measuring the thickness. I am measuring to see if a piece of wood is wide or long enough for the pattern. I measure to see if I can get two or three pieces out of a piece of wood. I use Inkscape to size patterns to fit the wood I have selected and sometimes to arrange parts. Sizing patterns to fit is measuring. Just yesterday, I printed patterns on half-sheet shipping labels and measured their size. Using Inkscape, I resized the pattern to fit the label and measured the size of the smallest internal cut to be sure I could drill a hole small enough for this size pattern to work. I make puzzles. If I have made them before, they are usually sized to fit 1x6 wood. In this case, I use the pattern to measure, apply the pattern to a longboard, and then cut it to fit. kmmcrafts
I had one of the laser artist folks I deal a lot with on etsy make this design for me.. I just had to make this as an ornament. I'm not sure yet if I'll do any painting on this one or not. The artist did paint her sample one and she also engraved it with my name as I asked for it to have a spot for personalization. IF you guys purchase the design it does come in different formats such as SVG, and PDF etc.. I think if you made it larger it could be scrolled maybe.. but not certain on how you'd do the tick marks in the ruller.. I suppose you could cut it and then cut again with a spiral blade so to not see the drill hole for the blade and it'd probably work well.. especially if you make it larger.. other areas would be some of the small cutouts around the text.. particularly around the S's those spots are quite small at the designed size but probably doable if you doubled the size. This is where you can purchase it if you want to give it a try. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1806127397/carpenter-gift-svg-measure-once-cuss?ref=yr_purchases OCtoolguy
Badgerboy
My wife’s uncle, who is of Czech heritage, is an extremely talented carver and created this piece many years ago. This is one of my most precious pieces of his that sits in my office. Thought you might enjoy. JTTHECLOCKMAN
That is beautiful. There is some talent there. Now that is worthy of a scrollsaw pattern but of course in English. kmmcrafts and OCtoolguy
kmmcrafts
Very nice carve job done there.. Since I can't read the language I'm assuming it's saying something similar.. I see the carved men have the fingers insinuating measure twice cut once, LOL Really cool piece OCtoolguy

As Frank said you really don’t need to translate it the carving is rather obvious to any kind of woodworker. BTW, nice cutting on the ornaments. kmmcrafts
