Scroll Saw Newbie

Hi everyone, whilst I have been into woodwork for many years it has been primarily involved with furniture and moving toys such as those you can get from Gatto Plans. Recently I decided to try my hand at "magic boxes", you know the sort of thing. 24 moves to get the dam*%d thing open. Well after struggling with drill, coping saw and files I decided to get myself a scroll saw. Now I'm HOOKED. Could not have imagined the scale of projects that owning one of these would open up to me, and the generosity of people providing so many patterns.

Now, where to start???

Well Steve you've hit the nail right on the head when you said you can't imagine the projects you can do with the scroll saw.How i ever lived with out a scroll saw escapes me .Wish i'd started long ago.Again your right about the generousity of the folks in the village willing to give of the time and expertise to help all that ask it.Your going to soon wow us with the tallant you acquired the past years and now transform to the scrollsaw.Looking forward to seeing you open up your own gallery here in the village.it makes a great place to store patterns and photos you find and treasure here in the village.Your going to be a hit here so start making saw dust ! :)

Thanks for all the welcomes guys, much appreciated.

Now I've had a chance to play with my new scroll saw the real versatility of this amazing tool is becoming apparent. I've done a few things now and am ready to show my "beginners" attempts. Quite pleased with the results but had a few frights along the way with jumping work, snapping blades etc but starting to get used to the many foibles of this beast. Also had a play at producing my own patterns after watching a course on using GIMP to produce portrait patterns. Might publish those as well. I still cannot get over the generosity of people with patterns, videos, lessons and help where needed. It makes a pleasant change from the cut throat world of business which I was used to. Ah well, back to the workshop :)
