Rockwell Blade runner RK7320..???

Looking to get into scrolling,,,I am tempted by the Bauer 22” from HF,, it is a heavy beast, 75 poundsl.  they claim it equals the Dewalt 788,   I don’t know…the Wen is highly rated, soo?//.  then I looked at that low price Dremel,,,,really interesting.  Not interested in the portable feature, but it has lots o good points,  only thing I’m not sure of,, does it take pinless blades?

 

So what do yu think..???

 

 

Anybody know anything about this Rockwell saw….Sorta looks like a scroll saw,,, they say it is.  A guy offfered it to me for free, but it takes a four hour round trip??

I bought a rockwell when a friend moved he said it was the best thing since sliced bread. I used it for one cut, gave it to my son and he made one cut, that was 3 or four years ago. It is not a scroll saw

Don't these use like a jigsaw blade? Blade looks huge in the link that JT posted.. I can't see this being very fun to use..

Maybe you need to figure out what it is you plan to make with these saws... Scroll saws can do a very wide variety of work from cutting wood to thin sheet metal to plastics etc. etc. then the various projects within these materials also has a wide range of things to make.. You will not be able to do intricate fretwork very well with any of the machines you have mentioned as they just are not user friendly for those types of projects.. 

I could see this saw being used for rough cutouts of shapes etc.. imagine much sanding would be needed but in that case a bandsaw would probably be a better choice.. But maybe if that is what you plan to make then it might be a good choice.. most of us when we hear you're looking for scroll saw we think of fine detailed artwork and things like that.. The proxxon and this tool are not a good choice for the things most of us would think of using as you would a scroll saw.

If you want to use the BladeRunner as a scrol saw, DON'T.    It is basically a Jig Saw mounted upside down.  Blades are jig saw blades.  I bought mine because I thought I could use it like a table saw.  Thought it was a good idea.  Not so good.  At  leaset I didn't spend a lot of money on it.  Was about $80.00 at Lowes.  That was about 10 years ago.  Does OK cutingt thin boards, no thicker than 1/2 inch.  I tried cutting a 1 1/2 X 1  1/2 inch square of pine with it.  Did OK till I got close to the end, than BANG bout broke my hand and scared the bjibbers out of me.  Haven't used it since.  That was about 2 years ago.

Probably going to pass one the Rockwell…. It is just an inverted jig saw.  Though the seller did offer to throw in a Dremel, new in box, for $10.
