Very nice work Don @Insane Dust Maker.  I hope you are able to sell stuff to support your scrolling obsession.

Put a coat of wax on your machines to protect them from corrosion.  I like to use Johnson's Floor Wax like this SC Johnson Discontinued Paste Wax: Furniture CLEAN-SHINE-PROTECT Wood Ful1 16 oz | eBay.  But it has been discontinued and people are asking insane prices for a can of it.  My can is almost gone and I will have to find another wax like that.  I am sure you can find something in SA for a reasonable price.  Do not use anything (i.e. car wax) that has silicon in it as that will get on the wood and cause problems with finishing the wood.

Thanks for your tip, I in fact use a silicone free wax that we can get here, which I use for the table saw and router table tops, the legs are waged with warm soapy water the dried and a coat of wax applied, the saw blades etc are checked and cleaned and coated with WD 40.

With regards to me selling my cuttings, people are interested until you give them a price and then all of a sudden lose interest, they don’t appreciate this time and effort that goes into doing cuttings like this.

Yes that is what I found.  Lots of "I want", until you quote a legitimate price.

Beautiful cutting.  Regarding selling, that is what I have experienced.

Yip they will gladly take it for nothing, I feel I’ve paid my dues, I’ve worked hard at my technique and quality of my work, people just don’t understand the hours of concentration that goes into a Fretwork Complex Pattern, very sad indeed.

i can only hope one day I will be able to do something like that with my scroll saw....I am new to this, not woodworking.

that piece is beautiful.

as far as selling it, I dont think most woodworkers selling their work actually get paid for their time and effort. woodworking for a living will most likely leave you poor. unless you have a wife that works or some other form of income, woodworking for profit is very difficult.

minimum wage where I live, suburbs of nyc, usa, is around 20 bucks or soon will be. most woodworkers I see at shows dont make that much in the end, adding in cost of goods, cost of the booth at shows, plus most important time spent. not to mention the cost of maintaining a shop, supplies, etc.

I wish you luck and success, I have no idea how many hours were put into this piece, but I believe there might be a buyer out there that is willing to pay for your talent, hopefully you two will connect eventually.
