Popular Post Scrappile Posted January 1 Popular Post Report Posted January 1 I came to this site this afternoon, and wow. There were many questions asked and many, many great, helpful responses. I read them all, and as an old scroller, I learned, and I also hope I was able to contribute. That is really what this forum is about. Bragging rights are to let us get validation, encouragement, and constructive criticism. Questions or general scrolling is where we learn. Just had to say it, hope it keeps going. Thanks, @Travis, for hosting such a great forum. Please do not ever sell us out to some great corporation that will ruin it. AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO MY SCROLL SAW VILLAGE NEIGHBORS. SO GLAD TO LIVE BY YOU ALL. Sorry if I sound emotional, but I just got off a long phone conversation with one of my neighbors, @heppnerguy. I have others that stay in touch with phone calls. It is so great. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY SCROLLSAW NEIGHBORS. jerry walters, JJB, barb.j.enders and 11 others 12 2 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 Thanks Paul. I noticed it too. A ton of activity all of a sudden and it seems like quite a few newbies. I love it when it looks like the hobby is renewing itself. I was new here 10 years ago and have learned so much. There are a couple of great friends who have passed on so that is sad but there is always new blood. And I second what you said to Travis. We ALL have him to thank for this truly wonderful site. Thank you Travis. Happy New Year to all. Stay safe, warm and somewhat sober. I'll be sipping my rum laced eggnog. I love that stuff. heppnerguy, Dave Monk, jerry walters and 2 others 5 Quote
jerry walters Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 DITTO what Paul and Ray said. When I started I bought and used local library books on the scroll sawing subject. This site beats them all. Keep up what you are doing Travis. You are appreciated. Jerry danny, barb.j.enders and OCtoolguy 2 1 Quote
JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 One thing you have to also look at the time of the year. Winter is when most people go into their shops to play for a few months. That is where I will be going. I have some interesting projects I want to try this year. I need a challenge and will do just that this year if health holds up. Won't be scrollsawing but still wood related. Hopefully by spring I will have lots of photos to show. Scrappile 1 Quote
timelett Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 Some people say winter, I hate it, me since I found sawing and turning, I welcome it,in the process of looking for a different house with bigger shop! danny and Scrappile 2 Quote
Scrappile Posted January 2 Author Report Posted January 2 (edited) @timelett, you are correct, I think. I had little time scrolling in the summer, but now I have more time. and I have done more lately than I did this year. So it made me late for this Christmas. I am starting now for next Christmas. Hope I do not forget where I put things for sending next Christmas. I just ordered wood. I want to make this my next Christmas Christmas card to my immediate family. Signed on the back by my wife and me. Have 10 to do. We have not sent Christmas cards in a long time, so this is to make up. JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted January 2 Report Posted January 2 That is actually a great idea. Treasured forever. I know Carter use to make puzzle Christmas cards and send them to all the relatives. Great idea and getting started early is also a great idea. Thanks for showing. Scrappile and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
