JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 (edited) Which one are you looking at? It says Amazon but it is coming from somewhere. Check out where. Also look at the reviews. How serious are you? Jet 14" is basically just like my Delta from many years ago. Not many changes. Unless you are looking at the 1-3/4 HP one Edited January 1 by JTTHECLOCKMAN OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Sycamore67 Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 I just bought the Rikon 14" from Amazon. Initially, I thought their price was high but it included free shipping. From other suppliers, the price was lower but shipping extra and it typically was a couple hundred and once you added it, the price was very close to Amazon. I spent about $1600 plus another ~$100 on a couple blades. I plan to build a rolling base to make it mobike. I had reviewed the other brands such as Laguna, Jet, and Harvey but liked the Rikon guides and how you adjust them. My son has the same saw and happy with it. I also have the Rikon 10" bandsaw for small stuff but not resaw. Good Luck OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Dave Monk Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 I ordered a new Powermatic planer and drum sander from Home Depot on black Friday. I got free shipping along with my VA discount. I would strongly recommend a 1/2" wood slicer blade for resawing. I went through about four different brands before I found it. Jet tech support is top notch and they have the longest warranty. If I search for any tool on the Home Depot website, I get the normal low-end tools that are usually available in their store. If I search for a brand name, I get something completely different. I played around with this for a while and was surprised at what I could order. This also works on the Lowes website. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 I have ordered my table saw and many other bigger tools with free shipping through Home Depot too.. and yeah they have a lot of other brands to that you normally wouldn't see in many stores. Most times if Amazon is running a sale so is Home Depot.. and sometimes a few dollars cheaper than Amazon some how, lol OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I tried two different carbide blades, maybe not a Lennox. I bought a Laguna and it broke at the weld. Sucks on a $150 blade. I was trying to use 3/4" blades because I thought they would cut straighter. I don't think I could get enough tension on them with my small 14" Rikon. I found the wood slicer 1/2" and they are reasonable and last me a long time. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I order a lot from them and have it shipped to my house. I'll buy a case of spray glue when I get low. It's a lot cheaper. I use mainly 120 grit orbital paper so I ordered a case. It will last me a long time but it's a lot cheaper and won't go bad. So much of the things they sell they will deliver to your home for free so why bother going into the store. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Cutting exotics is tough on a blade. I use to have a dealer near me, do not know if they are still in business, but they sharpened blades for me too so it is a plus. yes you have to max out the tension on most 14" saws with carbide. Joe W. Posted January 3 Report Posted January 3 I got my Jet 14" from HD - free shipping + veteran discount. No regrets. danny 1 Quote
BadBob Posted January 5 Report Posted January 5 Blades are not a problem. There are many sources of blades, but I get mine from Timber Wolf. You need to consider what you want to do with a bandsaw and buy one that is adequate for the task. Don't buy a band saw with three wheels. As far as I can tell, there are not many of these around anymore. As a general rule of thumb, I would not buy a band saw that Carter Products does not support. Quote
kmmcrafts Posted January 5 Report Posted January 5 I order my box fan filters, air filtration filters, Danish oil and many other things from Home Depot and yes.. free shipping is a plus because the local HD for me is 40 ish mile away. Yet I usually receive my order at my door the next day. My DeWalt planer, miter saw and stands for both came from them too. I was ordering my Lacquer from them too but then last time I found it way cheaper at a place online called MaxWarehouse.. It did take longer than HD by quite a few days but the price was worth the wait. Quote
rjweb Posted January 5 Report Posted January 5 Homedepot is great with their free delivery, i will place an order by 11;00 am its on my step by 4:00 pm, can't beat it. HD is only 7 miles down the road but why should I fight traffic and I probably spend more money if I see something while there, RJ Quote
