Ideas?

I've been asked to make a wedding piece where the bride and groom will  combine two hearts or heart pieces to form one. They don't want typical puzzle pieces, something more unique.  Any ideas appreciated.  I have attached an idea the bride sent me but I can't figure out how I could do it out of wood.

That is basically what that is a 2 puzzle pieces. There are many versions of 2 rings scrolled with a heart for weddings. The only thing I can think of is treat like an intarsia piece and basically copy what the design is and make in different colored woods like ebony and holly. Have to do some carving.  I could not blow up the photo so do not even know what this does. Is it a neckless or sits on a stand?

Just throwing out an idea here, but something with a hidden magnet to unlock.  I saw Alex Snodgrass make a bandsaw box with a magnet lock hidden.  https://www.instagram.com/woodcraftsupply/reel/DDcr3LkSNNZ/  Maybe change to hearts.

 Dave, What about bringing the right side piece over the top of the center piece just enough so the right and left were one piece instead of two. Not sure if this is what you are after or not but it should work quite easily if it is
