poupster2 Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 I've been trying to find the best and quietest dust collector for a few years now and i think i found a verry good one now. A little history: I've tried using a shop vac and even if it decent a sucking dust, it is way too noisy. I've then tried using Seyco's cyclonic action dust collector. This is fine but does suck very much and the Paper Filters that are used a very problematic and break constantly. I went through 2 in 3 years. I was then tempted to get the Foredom dust collector. They are very expensive but are very quiet. I had ordered one last November but the ETA is next June. In the meantime, Rockler came up with the Dust Right Tool Activated HEPA Dust Extractor. this was way cheaper than the Foredom so I bit the bullet. I am so pleased with this dust collector that I needed to share this with this community. I also decided to up the cyclone that came with the Seyco, and use the Mullet as a cyclone. I have no more dust under the saw, I will be getting a scrollnado to get dust from both the top and bottom. jollyred, kmmcrafts, ChelCass and 2 others 1 3 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted January 9 Report Posted January 9 Thank you for sharing your info on this.. I'll be looking up info on this set-up as I need to upgrade from the small Seyco system I currently use.. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Dan Posted January 9 Report Posted January 9 (edited) Harbor Freight has a dust extractor for the same price as the Dust Right extractor. It has good reviews but is not available in any nearby stores. I was thinking of checking it out but for the price I'd probably go with the Dust Right for their reputation. I won't pay for high-end ones as I wouldn't use it enough to justify added cost. Edited January 9 by Dan OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Gonzo Posted January 10 Report Posted January 10 Nice! About the same decibel level as my Fein turbo 2, but it appears to be much less expensive. Keep us posted as to how it’s working for you. Quote
poupster2 Posted January 10 Author Report Posted January 10 You are right Gonzo and that is why i didn't go with the FEIN. So far after a few days with it, It is sucking very well! Quote

Dan you may want to compare as they both seem to be identical but with a few different options depending on which one you pic. There are videos out there comparing them. Quote
Norm Fengstad Posted January 11 Report Posted January 11 reducing noise is always a good thing to do however they are way more expensive than ordinary vacs. so ear protection is the next best. poupster2 1 Quote

I agree with you Norm about ear protection as I have been wearing noise cancelling headphones for a few years now. Also, because I scroll in my basement, I needed to get a unit that is quiet so that my wife would not complain about the noise also. Happy Wife Happy life! Its a win win!!! Quote
