I'm 77  I don't have a printer is there a paper catalog I can purchase on can I buy single patterns and have them mailed .

If you have a library nearby, check them out. If they have scroll saw books with pattern you can print one up right there. Or, you can probably put digital patterns an a USB drive and print them at the library. The patterns in the Village library has a great variety.

Other than that just browse the pattern sites, as mentioned.

If you should decide to purchase a printer, my advice would be a Brother inktank model.  We had an HP inkjet that would go through ink cartridges at an amazing rate.  I think that their business model hinges on putting a minimum of ink in the cartridge and selling it for $70.  The Brother we have is inkjet but uses tanks of ink.  $100 of ink lasts easily a year.  That HP couldn't go that long on 1 cartridge when we didn't use it - the ink would dry out.

Both Canon and Hp has the tank on their printer ( I have both) and it is so much cheaper to use then the cartridges .  Both printers are reasonable prices (walmart) and both of my printers are wireless so I can print from my laptop inside the house to my printer in my workshop.

I have this problem too, especially in the winter the house is very dry. Recently I looked into a solution and found out that you need to print regularly so the ink doesn’t dry out. The other thing you could do is pull out the ink cartridge and with a damp paper towel wipe where the ink comes out then dry it with a dry paper towel and put it back in the printer. I did this the other night, had to do it three times and it worked the printer was printing perfectly.

A laser printer is the only option. They are much cheaper to use in the long run, but they are not good at printing color photos.

Per page cost is about $0.02/page for laser and $0.05/page for inkjet. This does not include the cost of replacing ink cartridges.

True, but the only thing I print is patterns.  I am okay with black.  Hubby, is now printing more but it is music so black is fine for him.

I rarely print anything with color. I have played around with colors for patterns and didn't see any advantage. I suspect my color toner will go bad before I run out.
