Very Nice.  

I realalize you said first project, but FWIW, a #7 blade is really large.  I'm an avocate of using the smallest blade possible for the kind of cutting you are doing and the thickness of the material you are cutting.   You might find a #3 or even a #1 blade would be eaiser to work with for this kind of cutting and materil thickness.   Just my two cents.

I will be getting some smaller blades. These I had picked up at Rockler to start with. Thanks.
