JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 It will turn brown. A finish will slow it down some. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Dan Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 Like John said, it will turn brown. If you leave it unfinished you may be able to sand it when it turns brown and bring back the red, but that seems like a lot of work. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
BadBob Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 I use an oil and wax blend for Paduak. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
TAIrving Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 Some finishes include UV inhibitors which will slow down the turning-brown process. Teak oil comes to mind. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Yea I mentioned this in another thread where some one was looking for a bloodwood substitute and Padauk was mentioned. That dust is nasty stuff. Some woods are just that way. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

redwine Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 I am a little late with this, laptop giving me trouble, but most all of the long time scrollers know about this, if you attach Padauk to a lighter colored wood preseal both pieces first! The reason being that Padauk will bleed into the lighter wood! This happened to me a couple of times until I ask about this and was told how to finish before putting the two woods together!
