You are 100% correct.  I'm contemplating how to fix. My adding the coloration to the backer caused the problem.   

I did not see the problem until I took the pic and submitted this post.   Sometimes you don't see a mistake until it is too late.

I may attempt to remove the sun.  it is too late to change the coloring of the background.

Yes  but it was my background coloring that put the sun underwater.

Could you adjust the colouring around the sun.  Make it look more like a setting sun.  

Not that easy with the assembly glued in place.  Air brush work is dificult to repair in this kind of situation.
