Popular Post barb.j.enders Posted March 4 Popular Post Report Posted March 4 Here is a second Steve Shears hummingbird. It has been reduced in size from the original. It is maybe 6" long. Because of that I grouped a couple of the wing bits. Woods used are Quilted Maple, Yellowheart, Canarywood, Eucalyptus, Tigerwood, Lacewood, ebonized Walnut. Finish is a coat of Walrus oil. The first top feather on the left and then count down from there to the fourth. On the block I cut from, it is very pronounced. The sanding has minimized it. Being up there in the Frozen Tundra, where do you get it from, and in what sizes? By the way, it’s gonna get up to 36 degrees Fahrenheit here today. They are in Ontario so it does have to be shipped. I can get some from Windsor Plywood here in Winnipeg. They do not have a lot in the s4s product so I haven't gotten as much from them. I don't have a way to mill the wood myself. Also not particularly interested in figuring that out. I have a friend that also does woodworking. He keeps a box that he fills up with various woods.
