ScrollingAlong
Hello all---thanks for letting me be a part of this forum. I have been scrolling about 12 years now and have an issue with my Dewalt 788 scrollsaw that is giving me alot of grief. I have disassembled this saw several times and cannot find the sourcce of the problem. The problem is the up and down play and noise . I have tightened all the sleeve bushings and inspected for wear, but they all seem good. I can reassmble and it is quiet even at the highest setting. Then with the blade pro[erly tensioned---i start cutting and BAM---starts making racket again. Not sure if anyone else has encountered this and if they have suggestions? Dewalt website is great for parts, but that is about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
jesse
i don't have a Dewalt scroll saw but what it sounds like it could be the bearings that are going out. Check that out first, hope that helps
heppnerguy
this may sound rather funny, but sometimes my Dewalt makes a lot of noise and it is really not the saw, even though it appears to be...if the blade looses it's tention, which happens now and then, it makes a lot of noise.. by re-tentining the blade, it runs fine again ..... the other really od thing that sometimes makes my cutting really loud, is the saw/wood combintion.. changing the blade..and that can be a new blade...and things will quiet down.. the blade can be cutting just fine at the time...but the noise it creates is very loud and I thought it was my saw problem..now I just change the blade..this can happen when it is quiet but I change the type of wood I am cutting... may not be what you are experiening but I thought I would throw it out for consideration
me5269
Not sure if this will help you, but its a good site for troubleshooting dw788 problems http://www.scrollsaws.com/SawReviews/DewltTuneUp.htm
amazingkevin
I've pulled my hair many times trying to find something wrong with the dw788.Problem is the movements are so miniscule that it's tough to see where the problem is.a 1/16th " play on the front end means an 1/8" play in the back. This is my second new dw788 and i love them to death but they are oh so touchy.I've had the bottom blade holder assemble fall off.the bolt that goes thru the connecting rod nut fall off.As long as the speed stays on 5 or below there's no problem, but who wants to cut slow.Wish i couls set you straight but can't.
