jerryd
Am thinking of using some sort of airbrush or mini sprayer to spray my frettwork with teakoil, and or spar varnish. Do not know what will spray these oils. Maybe someone has some info on this?
kardar2
Well for teak oil I would use a spray bottle or get a plastic bowl with a air tight lid and dunk you pieces in it. As for varnish you will want to have a lot of pieces to varnish at once, cause it is kinda a pain to get it all set up just for one item. Clean up after word is kinda a pain but it will leave a really nice finish. You will want to thin the varnish to run it through a airbrush. If it is oil base you will thin it with paint thinner start 50/50 raito . If it is water base thin it with water Edited January 30, 2013 by kardar2
Travis
For the oil, I'd get a disposable baking pan and fill it a bit with oil and dunk it like Kardar2 suggested. Then I let it dry on either cardboard or on a bed of nails or painter's pyramids (like these). That's the easiest way to oil your projects. Then I usually use a spray can of spray acrylic to topcoat it (after the oil has dried).
sullyscroller
I spray waterbased all the time. I don't thin as the more water you add the more it will raise the grain. it works great and cleanup is a snap. Most of the manufactures make a water based product as well as oil based. Spray it at low pressure (20 psi). sully
