DWSUDEKUM Posted June 5, 2013 Report Posted June 5, 2013 Two Photos of a shell I made and you have already seen, I have just used it to showcase the half barrel mirror display. The end caps are 3/8 poplar and the slats that make up the half barrel are pine. I got the mirror from Pat Catans and it is one of those flexible plastic mirrors. The inside is 6 in tall by 5 inches wide. I think it will be a good little display for 3d objects but of course time will tell. DW Quote
Nick@tinkers-cove Posted June 5, 2013 Report Posted June 5, 2013 Really cool DW. Just goes to show really - I know what I do, and I know what I like...but although we work with the same medium - they really are worlds apart. You're shell work is excellent, and a million miles away from anything I could ever produce. Again, another case of "The Wonder Of Wood" - both versatile and beautiful. I look forward to more of your posts. Quote
heppnerguy Posted June 5, 2013 Report Posted June 5, 2013 Extremely interesting...I have not seen those plastic mirrors before I would be interested in finding out where to buy them. What a great display piece....a very good idea Quote
retmsgt Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 Wonderful work! What wood did you use for the shell? In the article in Scrollsaw woodworking magazine, the author used pine for the example. Yours is absolutely beautiful. Oh, yeah, the 1/2 barrel is great as well! Eric Quote

Eric Eric, The slats were ripped from a 45 year old reclaimed 2x4. The end caps are poplar and the slats are pine. DW Quote
