Ok, a friend of mine at work had some carpet and trash in the back of his truck over the weekend. He was going to take it to the dump and looked in the back and one of his neighbors had thrown in some trash of his own. In that trash was a porter cable pcb370ss scroll saw!! I told him to bring it to me and I would look at it. It was in a sad state of disassembly when I got it, but it was in very nice shape. Everything worked except the little metal triangle that applies tension to the blade was broken into several pieces. I did some research and was wondering if anyone here knew of a good parts dealer for porter cable? It appears that I have to purchase the whole linkage bar assembly but was wondering if anyone has purchased parts for this scroll saw and where. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!!!!

Oh and he said I could keep the saw too!!!!!!!

A friend of mine needed Porter Cable parts and had to order through the manufacturer, that said I have used a Porter Cable for years and have had no problems with it at all. You get it up and running I think you will enjoy it as much as I do.

I usually buy replacement parts from e-replacement parts  http://www.ereplacementparts.com/porter-cable-pcb370ss-type-scroll-saw-parts-c-129_1845_116049.html

I think the part you are referring to is part of the linkage bar assembly (part 112) at $50, it is an expensive part.

I have a Hitachi (and older repainted porter cable) I will look at the part and see if you could make something.

I dis-assembled my Hitachi to see if I could find you part, and how it relates to the other pieces.

It is rather interesting on the inside. I don't think I have had this one quite this far disassembled before (on a side not, I think I found the source of the funny noise/vibration I was getting, there is a spring only attached at one place :) )

This is what the tensioning linkage assembly should look like (except for that pesky spring)

This shows the top pieces of the assembly. The handle thingy has threads on the inside of the tube which thread to the long rod. The other tube is just a spacer bar, no threads.

I believe this is the mysterious triangle piece that you are missing.

In my saw it has no threads and basically just acts as a spacer/alignment piece for the tensioning rod.

The way it looks in my saw, if you could find some sort of material that could withstand the compression of the tensioning, and would fit in the notch of the arm, it would work.
