Hi Folks,

My name is Dan, currently living in the Sacramento area. I started scroll sawing last autumn after getting laid off. One of my wifes friends suggested I make wooden toys as a sideline to bring in a little extra cash. Why not, I thought. I used to build and fly RC planes, so how hard could this be?

Right!

Anyway, I had a table saw, a band saw, a bench top drill press and a small belt/disk sander. And with that I started. Then a friend from church gifted me with a Dremel 16" 2 speed scroll saw and I was hooked. Over the next 10 months I tried like heck to wear that thing out. I ordered an Excaliber 21" saw in February, but it wasn't until early June that I received it. What a joy it is using that over the Dremel.

I'm starting to get ready for the fall craft fairs, have a shop on etsy, zibbet and delighted, and every day I learn how much I don't know about woodworking and finishing.

Regards,

Dan Snow

Welcome Dan, I think scrolling is like the art we create which is a work in progress, meaning that every project is different than the one before it with its own challenges. This is perhaps one of the things that keeps us coming back for more.

Welcome to The Village. A place filled with skills of many wonderful and caring people. It is truly a family here and we all welcome you with open arms. Your scrolling experience will grow if you come back here often and get to know everyone. If there is something you would like to accomplish with scrolling and are not sure about how to go about it , just ask, but be prepared to get bombarded with answers and help. Glad you found us.

:) I'm with you Dan,best thing I ever did was try a scroll saw .I can't stay away from it! Second best thing I did was order the rapid resizer .com    program .Adds to the ease of doing what you want very quickly.i couldn't make money till I got the program.Once you learn the simple steps you never forget how to use it.i too wore out many many cheap saws and finally got the dw788 for some of my practice intarsia pieces,go figure!Welcome to the village ,lots of friends to be made here! :)

Hi Dan, welcome to the Village. I'm Marg from Australia.  As long as we keep learning we keep breathing.  Scrolling is an addiction that does not really ever go away.
