The Lord has blessed me the last few years. This is just a couple of bad photos of the shop. The actual shop in its entirety is forty feet by fifty. The main shop is massive. It is also tall. You wouldn't believe the stuff I have stored in the rafters. Then there are my two ten by ten junkrooms off to one side. Then on the front is the ten by twelve room that I keep clean as sort of a display room for my projects. Walk straight into the main shop through the cargo door, (second photo). The row you see to your right contains two table saws, chop saw, planer, drill press, Craftman scrollsaw, and bench grinder. The next row to the left of that conatins the lathe, tool table, table mounted belt sander, band saw, Antique Craftsman scroll saw and the Delta scroll saw. Each of these rows is set up so you walk all the way around them to access the various tools. To the left of all that, over in the corner, is my L-shaped work area. It consists of two large tables build from beams and doors, My tow shopmates, and the air hockey the kids are grounded from, so I use it too. Around the corner from that is the little ten by ten hole I store lumber in. All this is in the back of the shop. I like it there so I can work and look forward, keeping an eye outside and on the front of the shop where my teenage boys have there own little woodworking area set up. The shop is about a hundred yards from the house. I have my coffee pot set up and surround sound stereo hooked up throughout. I love my music. I can work in the middle of the night when I feel like it, crank up the stereo, and loose myself in the grain of the wood. When I'm not there at night, it is the home of my baby, my American pit bull named Jasmine. As I said, I have been very blessed.
britetomro
No doubt you have the shop which is the envy of many, myself including. For the most part al of my work like many is done out of a garage and the dust gets all over anything and everything. Maybe someday in the not too distant future a stand alone shop will be in my backyard. Ron
Barry5180
Yes, I too hope to have a shop like that one day. Awesome space. Right now my shop is a room only a hair bigger than your junk room, but it does the job for me at this time. Barry

greasemonkeyredneck
Even a shop the size of mine has the dust problem. It takes me an hour at the end of a project just to get an area clean enough to stain. I, too, use the front of my shop when I need to make auto repairs. I do thank the Lord everyday though that I have a shop like this. I done mechanic work for thirteen years in a shop much smaller than this one. Travis
It would be so nice to really spread out. I love having lots of space to work in. I use to build sets and props for several theatre companies when I was in college. They had a nice large shop too, plus the stage if I needed extra space. I loved it. Maybe someday I'll get my shop back! My shop is pretty spread out right now. I have a 2 car garage that houses most of my large tools (table saw, band saw, drill press, etc). When we bought the house, my wife already knew there was no way she was going to be able to park in the garage! I also have a room in our basement where I do most of my scrolling and assembly. It stays warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. Unfortunately, I like spending my summers on my patio watching the world go by. So this summer I decided to move my scroll saw outside. I love it. My son knows to stay away from it, I can watch him and get some scrolling done.
RipCat
OMG! What an awesome set-up and space to work in. I have a tiny shed, but do most of my work on the back verandah. Don't suppose you want to adopt anyone do you greasemonkey???
Barry5180
While I still wish I had a shop like that, I have to admit, you do get quite good learning how to be creative in shop setup and storage. I was using an 8x6 closet for my last shop. Had my drill press, lathe, and scrollsaw in it. Finishing had to be done out on the fire escape because of fumes. Needless to say, everything was within easy reach and it did not feel claustrophobic. Barry
