smitty0312
Hey guys, thinking about getting Corel Draw, I am pretty comfortable with Inkscape and I am not sure if a new program like Corel draw will help me much, is the learning curve bad? It took me awhile of watching hours of youtube videos and Travis's lessons here to learn Inkscape, but. I thought it might be nice to have my own program like Corel Draw......I guess my question is....is it worth it for me to switch? There are several versions.....$130 - $469....which one is good enough? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks as always.
sullyscroller
Dan , I'd stick with inkscape and also gimp , both are free and unless it does miracles corel probably isn't worth it. just my 2 cents sully

Clayton717
I use corel paint shop 10 for my pattern making(when I find time). I use this because this is what I learned on. on one of the old forums Arpop had a nice tutorial on how to use it and set it up. I use inkscape for some things, mainly smoothing lines after pattern is finished.
Dan
For pattern making you will probably only use 10% of the features of Corel Draw. It's a lot of dough for patterns. Corel is very powerful, though. But for pattern making, I'd stick with Inkscape and Gimp.
