Will be leaving tomorrow night for home from Honolulu. Nice visit but was done with it about 5 days after getting here. visited with daughter, grandkids and son-in-law. My wife thought 2 weeks was a good time limit for the cost. Kids are brats lack of consistent discipline. do you know how many times a day and how many days you can tell the kids the same thing over and over and over not to do. Well at least 50 times and in 2 weeks I have not seen it help we still do the same thing. Kids kind of figured out nobody will do anything about it anyway. I am ready for the quiet of the shop and scroll saw and lathe. It is a long trip but I am excited to get back. Must be old age I like things quieter and slower.

To me it's the problem with kids these days Dan.  We cannot discipline them without worry about being arrested.  All this PC crap is teaching them nothing can be done.  Granted, no one needs to leave bruises on their kids, but a little smack on the back of the head, or a few swift smacks on the butt did wonders back in the old days.

Dan sure do miss the good ole days. My son still calls me SIR and he's 30 years old !! The biggest reason kids are the way they are is that our " society" is to lazy to smack their kids on the behind when they need it. I see it all the time at shows - It irks my wife to no end when i tell kids of any age "don't touch they are not toys!!!" As far as i'm concerned if feelings get hurt they can just get over it !!!! I was raised in a military family and if ya screwed up ya payed the price - right there right then. My shop is my sanctuary from all the PCBS out there. My motto "make sawdust not enemies"

When I was a kid if you were out in the street where you didn't live the police used to walk the beat and they would click you around the ear and send you on your way and if you told you your dad you would get another one. never did us any wrong, it teaches you respect which is not in any children theses days. they are told to sit on the naughty step. lol

Here in the US they call it a time out chair. What it needs in the chair is nails facing up or maybe a stun gun facing up to remind them why they are there. But then that would not be PC , maybe thats what we need to do to all the chairs in Washington DC. so that our elected officials remember why they are there.  OOOPPPPPSSSS now i'll never get my SSI back

SULLY FOR PRESIDENT    That should help gets things back on track. Hey Sully after a short 5 years, you would be entiteled to a lifelong benefits and get paid big money just to talk with people.  I have alread registered  my vote for you.  then you can tell them in Washington to take your SSI and shove it where the sun don't shine

Thanks guys for the response. I have done Pediatrics for more than 40 years. and the times they are changing. Kids used to be disciplined as was said right then and there. Now if a parent does that in public authorities are called. If not in public the kids call themselves and report it and then can't figure out when then call and stretch the truth and they end up in foster care how that happened. I would use a swat on the butt when needed not over done and not overdone. Kids always said it hurt there butt but told them it wouldn't hurt their butt cause it was already cracked. Dad always said I am going to kick your butt up around your ears so you can hear me better AND then would proceed to do it. I did learn to hear better and as far as I know I have not killed anyone or have bad feelings toward my parents. Kids have a hard time sorting out right and wrong. The pregnancy rate may be decreased a little but the disease rate is increasing. I have girls as young as 13 to 14 that want to get pregnant I am told so they can have someone love them but they have no idea what they are getting into and of  course the guy doesn't stick around,  We did have a good trip home and arrived safely. Will mow the grass and take truck in for work then will be in the shop.
