Dan Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 Well, I finally finished it. The pattern is from Thomas Mullane. There are about 140 cuts, it took about 6 hours (yea, I'm slow), I stacked 1/4" cherry ply and 1/8" BB ply, I used one #1 FD-UR and one #1 FD-Spiral, and applied BLO to bring out the grain. I had some Dark Blue matting that I bought a year ago for something like this. I plan to frame it but it's too darn cold to work in the garage where my table saw is. C & C welcome. Thanks for looking. P.S.: Sorry for the cell phone picture. lawson56, oldhudson, bobscroll and 1 other 4 Quote
Bendita Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Nice cut Dan I'm still not comfortable with the spiral blades so what I do is use a #3 or so and then enlarge the cut with a spiral as it will just follow path of least resistance. Thanks for sharing. Quote
LarryEA Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Good job Dan, thank you for the "Show and Tell". That adds to the enjoyment of viewing a scroll work. Larry Quote

Dan Posted January 25, 2014 Author Report Posted January 25, 2014 Thanks for the kind words. Nice cut Dan I'm still not comfortable with the spiral blades so what I do is use a #3 or so and then enlarge the cut with a spiral as it will just follow path of least resistance. Thanks for sharing. Hans, I don't like using spiral blades, but had to use them because the wood was longer than my saw. My philosophy is use flat blades when you can and use spirals when you have to. I admire the guys that do great work. with just a spiral blade. Bendita and Luperez548 2 Quote
