Phantom Scroller
I knew I hated spiral blades but had no choice as this was 3' long in oak and after I finished it I remembered why because they are really difficult to control. I know some of you love them but I have slowed down speeded up I still don't like um but some things you just can't turn around on a EX-21. Thanks for listening to my rant. browders
Well, for not liking the blade, you certainly made it work well for you. Great job! amazingkevin and Phantom Scroller
coullion
Wow! You did better than me when I used the spirals. They are nerve racking to use. Constantly have to keep every millimeter in focus as you are trying to control them. This wears a person out. Great job my friend! Docupton
Tried them once, made a mess, gave up.......well done Roly. Phantom Scroller
Dan
Roly, my thought is use a flat blade when you can and a spiral when you have to. I don't care for them but sometimes there is no getting around it. Phantom Scroller, keefie and Bendita
Sparkey
I use only spirals when doing fretwork with plywood. I guess you get used to it. Roly that came out great, what's not to like. Phantom Scroller
Ron Johnson
Hi Roly Just the same you did a surprisingly great job. Doing that size of a project is where I find a 30" scroll saw comes in handy for when you need it. Very seldom use spiral blades either than for a special purpose. You made an error on the sign ... NIGEL's is spelled RON's ... Lol. Have a great day. Phantom Scroller
DonR
I love spirals, and use them all the time. Nice sign Roly. Don R Phantom Scroller and amazingkevin
jrpeteo
That turned out plenty good! I use both, sometimes on the same project. For me, spirals take patience and a fast machine speed. Clayton717
good job. I don't like them either and only use them when I have to. Which isn't very often. Phantom Scroller

Proxprof
Hi Roly, I know what you mean when you say you hate them, I've tried them once or twice and it didn't work out as I wanted. But I will try them again, because I think that when other people can do it, I can do it too. Nevertheless, the sign looks good. Keep practicing!! LarryEA
I take my eyes off the scroll work much too often to use spirals Phantom Scroller
wombatie
I hate them too. Only ever used them once in a pattern and I think I only had to do about 4 lines and then I was back to my flat blades. Because it was such a big piece I was making half a cut taking it off the saw, turning it around and finishing the cut. Was a very long process. I'll only use spirals when there is no option but to use them. Keith

Kepy
Amen, brother. I am definitely with you. I despise spirals. Did have to use them on a large project and cussed all the way through.
Jim Finn
I do not use spirals but I did try them. I do not do fretwork and find the cut on the toys I was making at the time was way too rough. I could have used my band saw and gotten a smoother cut. When I have a long piece to cut I twist my regular #5 blade ninety degrees and cut from the side of the saw.

Jim Finn
I have one blade that I twisted and change to it when needed. It is slow, but does work. Phantom Scroller
RangerJay
Spiral blades are worth the practice it takes to become comfortable with them - the right blade and the right speed are key - no pushing. Jay Phantom Scroller
