britetomro
Don't want to brag however I thought it was good to share with all. I entered 3 of my framed pieces into the Orange County, CA Fair this year which started today. I stopped by to find out the results and the Cowboy entry received a 1st Place Award as well as Division Winner. The Eye on the Prey received a 2nd Place Award. Both pieces can be found in the Gallery section. Don't know how to relist them here. This is the first time I have entered any of my work into a competition and I am very happy with the results. Makes you feel good that all of the hard work is recognized. Take care all and have a great weekend. Ron
Travis
Congratulations, Ron! Those are wonderful pieces, too. They certainly deserve recognition. I've been meaning to enter mine in our county fair too, but I always forget to sign up. I should put it on my calender for next year. Good job on winning. You'll be flying high all weekend! britetomro
Thanks Travis for the comments, much appreciated. Yes, I will be on a high for the weekend. Will be working the scroll saw booth at the fair next Friday. A first doing this as well and looking forward to showing others the art of scrolling. greasemonkeyredneck
Don't want to brag however I thought it was good to share with all. Ron No! You should brag. It's great to have accomplishments like that. I wish they had shows like that nearer to me. It's nice to know though that we have an award winner amongst us. Accomplishments like yours though let the rest of us know that what we do as a hobby isn't totally dead as an artform. That's good to know. Congradulations. Great work. britetomro
Thanks for all of the positive comments. It is good to know that what we do as a hobby can be recoginzed by others and maybe even win during a competition. I have alot to live up to for next year. Attended the Fair last Friday evening doing a little cutting and sharing the Art with those who were curious. It was alot of fun. To top it off, I will be receiving a couple of cash awards for my winnings as well. Those monies will be used to purchase a few extra supplies. Take care all, Ron
Barry5180
Brag away Ron, brag away. You've earned the right. I'm going to have to check to see if they have a category at our county fair for me to enter a few pieces as well. Those two cuttings were terrific. I'm glad your talent was recognized and that you also got to share this terrific craft with others. If your demonstrations at the fair even got only one or two people interested in the craft it was a success. Thanks for sharing your great news with us. britetomro
Finally had a chance to post the photos of the way in which I am displaying my ribbons. I built a shadow box to display both the ribbon as well as a photo of each winning project. A little better presentation of the awards.
