Good morning Nick

Been using an Ex 30 (Sommerville Design) for the last fifteen years. I believe the only difference is an additional 9" in throat length. One of the last Canadian made models before they went off shore. The additional length has paid off for me several times. At the time of purchase it retailed for $1800.00. The new Ex 30 now is priced around $1100.00. I'm hoping this saw never gives up the ghost.

Thanks for the info Ron. I though it was just the throat that was obviously bigger, but to be honest I'm pretty impressed by the EX-21 anyway. I'm really tempted because I do enjoy working on the larger pieces.

Regards, Nick.

I should mention the expert service and advice I received promptly over the years when needed has been five star. The company backs up their products 100%. I first started out with a 16" craftsman, then 20" before upgrading to the Ex 30. The saw is very quiet and smooth operating. Changing blades takes only seconds. Table tilts 45 degrees left or right (new ones the whole saw tilts 45 degrees left or right, table remains level). The whole saw is manufactured from quality metal and aluminum. No plastic other than the knobs. The only parts I have ever replaced were the motor brushes, blade tension knobs and blade clamping set screws. These are the only parts that wear and eventually need replacing. If you happen to purchase the Ex make sure they add the new upgraded blade tension assembly being they were having blade slippage issues with the original. The other items I suggest ordering at the same time would be additional blade clamping set screws and a second set of blade tension knobs. You will then have them when needed and save yourself any downtime. I believe the new Ex's are now black.
