Just to say Hi - New to scroll sawing - New to retirement - So for an old bloke I am feeling really new...... So far I have scrolled some names from wood to go on top of computer screens at my wifes work place.

Gives me much needed practice. I managed to get an excalibur saw and very pleased with that.  Looking for the confidence to do other projects now so will be looking through the patterns on village website....

Welcome to the village Sam, as we get older I find it gets harder and harder to get any juices flowing except my creative once when it comes to scrolling hope it works for you also, as scrolling will turn into an addiction for you. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with that new saw.

Sam,

I too, started scrolling after I retired and quickly grew to having it put my first past time of fishing, in second place. My shop is my man cave. I am there as often as possible. Let me give you a little piece of advice,,,, from one retired guy to another.   You have started out perectly. That is, making things for your wife to enjoy. Scrolling is going to make you popular with her if you make sure you give her gifts of your work, often. It serves two purposes.   one: you feel good about yourself because you are givng your wife nice things, just because you love her and she in return will praise you for your creativity and will become happy that you invested your money on that silly saw.    two: She will encourage you to spend as much time in your shop as you like.   This, my friend is a win, win situation.

now I want to welcome you to THE VILLAGE, a place, you will soon learn that is full of talented and wonderful people who love to share their knowledge with one another. On top of that, everyone here understands that everyone else has brings part of themselve to ' the table' and we all learn from each other. It doesn't matter that you are brand new to scrolling because you will be helping others by being here and sharing your work and time and knowledge with us too. so don't stay away from here, but rather when you are not in your shop, take a moment to log on here and read the Forum and put in your replies. Start new threads and anticipate as often as you can. That way you will get to know everyone and quickly feel you are have a lot of friends and are part of this world wide family of scrollers. Glad you are here

Hi Sam, welcome to the Village.  I'm Marg from a steamy Victoria Australia.  Its great to see another Aussie on here there aren't many of us.  Have you discovered that scrolling is addictive and that there is no known cure yet?  If you haven't you soon will.

Boy, I am glad I came onto this site, you guys are awesome.....  Looking forward to getting to know you all...  isn't it good just to go for a nice gentle scroll.

Thanks for the pointers Dick (heppnerguy), always looking for a win when it comes to keeping my wife happy.

Marg, I think you are right, if I haven't been out to the scroll saw for a while I begin to twitch.

Sam

Hi Sam, I'm Roy from Scotland, come in and join in the fun. It's a bit like an international supermarket here, you can get everything and anything here, with one difference. It's ALL FREE. Oh! and watch out for that other Antipodean Marg, she's a wee devil. You have been warned!!  .

Rob Roy.

I think there should be a translator on here to translate Scottish, Sam it doesn't mean Marge Wees everywhere it means small and delicate petite.

Oh no Roy...what're we supposed to do now? It seems Roly's on day release again! I'm sure they'll come looking for him when his meds are due. "YA BETTER GET RUNNING ROLY" LOL
