nubeescroller66#
Although I really do not have have that many patterns accumulated yet, (in fact, very few), I'm wondering how the rest of you fellow scrollers store your favorite patterns for future use. Thanks. nubeescroller66#
LarryEA
nubeescroller66# Jerry, Go to ' General Scroll Sawing ' and in upper right, do a search for something like, 'pattern storage'. Here is one previous post. How do you organize your patterns?in General Scroll Sawing Started by Travis, Sep 23, 2010 Last Post by wombatie, Sep 29, 2010

LarryEA
Hey Kevin, Is that 'Box # 8 ?' My pattern storage: Some in 3 ring binders, some in drawers, on top of cabinets and generally strewn around the shop. rjR
Between THE "AMAZING KEVI" and LarryEA (not cable-guy); they sum up my system! I do make a lot of templates for things I think I ma going to repeat! Please, Bear in MIND-- This is a crummy system! Rover2
Radar O'Riley filing system. Some there, some here and I know where they all are. I do need to come up with a better system because I'm starting to gather more then the old filing system can handle. Dennis Key
Dennis Key
I keep mine in folders , by categories in a file cabinet lol so I guess like Rover2 "Radar O'Riley filing system"
Jim Finn
I keep mine in a cardboard box along with many templates. I also keep copies of all patterns in a folder on my computer. Easy to resize there.
wombatie
They are in 2 ring folders in alphabetical order and or category alphabetical order. I have 8 of them, need to get another one soon. Plus I have a filing cabinet with folders in that say "To Be Filed" 'To Be Cut" "I Am Cutting" "Can't Make My Mind Up". The last one is a bit thick. I also have a tray next to my printer and they get dropped in there until its full and then they get filed. All of my books are in alphabetical order too. And my magazines are in number order in magazine files. I guess I'm a bit OCD . Marg

oldhudson
I've not done much scrolling but hope to do more. Mostly I've stored whatever patterns I've gathered I've put in a manila folder and keep in the file cabinet with all my woodworking stuff. No organization whatsoever, just in the folder. Recently I was introduced to Microsoft One Note. I played with it the other day because my wife asked if I could organize her receipes. She has hundreds. Some appear on the table with regularity and others, well they sit in a basket on a shelf in the dinning room. One Note came with Windows Office in my newer computer. It's like a digital 3 ring binder. You set up tabs, many as you like, and drop stuff onto a page. No limit on the number of pages. The info is not stored on your computer but on or in that thing they refer to as the Cloud. That allows you to sync a couple computers or your phone. One feature I think makes it particularily useful is the search function. I could scan a printed recipe or open a pdf file, or copy and paste from a web size like ALLRECIPES. Anyway you can search on ANY term in your 'notebook'. That makes it pretty easy to find stuff. For patterns it would require a person to create key word serarch terms to be useful, but I'm going to give it a go. I'd be interested to know more about One Note from any of you who have experience with it.
browders
I have two folders on my computer desktop. One is to store Inkscape patterns and the other is for all other pattern formats. Somehow though I always end up with a pile of papers in my shop of patterns I printed out with the best intentions of cutting them, but never got around to it. About once every 6 months I cull the pile. Travis
Phantom Scroller
The rate I collect and make patterns I would need a warehouse to keep them, so thanks for the PC laptop and USB portable hard drives if I made everything I have, I would probably be 200 years old when finished. wombatie
Marg, Come to my house and organize mine for me.. I am not good at organization, even in a little way. And a trip to the States might be fun too Dick heppnerguy I happen to be coming to the States next year Dick but unfortunately we are going to LA with the grandkids. I worked in an office for quite a number of years and I loved to do the filing. In fact back in 1983 I got a 2 weeks temp job at the navel base close by and the girl I was replacing hated filing and she hadn't done any for about 3 years, I did it all in 3 days. I got a permanent temp job out of that whenever she went on holidays. Marg amazingkevin

Barry5180
I have all of mine stored on my laptop and backed up to an external drive. Unfortunately, the laptop is dead and I can't access the external drive with my tablet. Guess I really need to get that fixed and then get a better system of storing.
