sawtooth
Found a good pattern of an old barn. Cannot remember where I got it (from one of the forums). There is an old barn near my home and I decided to cut the pattern and make the frame from old wood on the old barn. This wood is over 50 years old. The frames are not exactly even because one end of the board might be over one inch or more in depth and less than an inch on the other end of the board. Just wanted to try something different. Pictures are ll x 14. Rod lawson56 and oldhudson

rjR
Another fine rendition of a disappearing American icon! Something I had written about 15 years ago follows: Abandoned Farm Yard Lonely, decaying, weedy and sad The old grainery with gaping holes in it's side Graying- doors gone- starting to sag- and sway Shingles missing- some boards flopping in the wind Becoming home to a wild menagerie Not full- red- straight and proud The days left of it standing seem short indeed The barn seemed to fair a little better Roof and sides looking forlorn But with doors intact still standing square and straight Two metal cupola standing atop a fine roof line A tree on the end growing up to close A few more years of pride left, though the splendor is gone That tree will take that corner out eventually The house long since dead and gone Yard shed's condition between the grainery's and the barn's The old well pump seems to be fairing the best I wonder what stories the buildings could tell I am sure some would be happy and glad, some strange, sad? An abandoned farm yard always leaves me melancholy Missing the American Small Farm A vanishing part of our heritage A sad reminder of the days of real neighbors We must all remember everyone is our sister or brother The whole world is all dependent together Wilson's Woodworking and lawson56

penquin
That is one super cutting and great job on the framing of it. What a great use of the old wood from the barn. When we travel around by car I always stop and take photo's of old barns and farm houses that are abandon. Have a bunch if anyone is interested in doing some patterns I can share some great photo's I have. Thanks for showing this one to us. jim penquin

Wilson's Woodworking
I Love those rustic barn wood frames! I have made a few of them years ago out of an old granary I had torn down. Very nice pattern and great cutting, I would hang it in my house any day.
