DWSUDEKUM Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 Very nicely done. Spiral blades take some getting used to and it looks like you are off to a great start. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Quote
Doug Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 John Everyone needs to do what works for them. I exclusively use spirals and cut only 5/8 inch to 1 1/4 inch but mostly 5/8 inch hardwoods. I will do all of my cutting with FD 2/0 or # 1 spirals because I think I can control the cutting better than with a # 3. If I want a wider vein than I get with a # 1 I will cut with the # 1 and then go back with a # 3 and follow the vein I have already cut. Quote
Bendita Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 Great job john I concur with Doug using the #1 first and then chasing it with a #3 Spiral , One of the big advantage I find with spirals is that they make great rasps so you can actually shape something by rubbing the side of the spiral against the wood it works great I just did one piece today only using spirals it came out great. Yes I think you got it mastered Doug. Doug 1 Quote
Sparkey Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 Looks great John. I also love spiral blades. I use them for everything but I like the new FD 3/0 spiral. Quote
