heppnerguy Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 Not sure if this qualifies as a vase or what, but I have been looking at them for awhile and I finally decided to make one for my wife. I made this one using Alder and another wood for the base and top of which I have no idea as to what kind of wood it is. When i freshly cut and sand this wood it is very yellow but takes on a rather dark brown look in a short time. It kind of reminds me of how a banana turn so quickly, Anyway is a very dense and hard wood with no noticeable pitch. It did please my wife, as she thought it was very beautiful. It really does not appeal to me a lot but what the heck do I know anyway? Phantom Scroller and Fish 2 Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 Very nicely done. These are dry vases and the woods you have chosen are a great combination. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Quote
Fay Prozora Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 I would go to the craft store and buy some of those plastic or silk flowers to put in it and then the flowers will look nice and fresh all year. That is a nice looking dry vase. You could put real flowers in it if you have a plastic or glass vase that will fit inside. Great job! Fay Quote
Wilson's Woodworking Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 That sounds an awful lot like mulberry wood. I have made some rolling pins and a few other projects out of it and it is a beautiful wood. That is a beautiful vase. Well done. Quote
