Sparkey
Well the very old Craftsman 8" drill press was sounding pretty bad so I retired it. I bought a Skill 10" with the lazer. I love the lazer feature. I also love that the 1/2" drill chuck goes small enough to hold a # 57 drill bit. It also has a great price on-line at $119. amazingkevin and Travis

bandaideman
I am glad you posted that. I have a 8" craftman and the chuck hold all the drills too but the chuck is hard to work anymore even after soaking in oil and working it. Now I know the drill I might be able to go to. Mine runs fine even after falling off the bench and the head is crooked but they no longer make the chuck I tried getting one from Sears. Multifasited
Try a product called P.B.Blaster to loosen up the chuck (not many products impress me but that stuff is incredible loosens up rusted needle nose pliers and a raft of other things )( no I don't sell the stuff or even have any stock ,just the very best squirel pi-s I have ever used (tech. Name ) Hard to beat a laser on any tool , Check on line I bet there is one that will fit it !
rjR
The only thing I do NOT LIKE about my Skill is the X shape of the hold down holes in the table. My jigs had all been made for just horizontal slots. Now I have had to adapt and re-make for the X.

Fay Prozora
I love my drill press but can't loosen that bolt to be able to use the t able tilt. I really don't need that any more as I found a drill guide thing for rotary tools and I purchased it for under $15 bucks. I got to Sequim yesterday and I will be going back on Thursday so I haven't even seen it yet. Looking forward to giving that a try to be able to drill angled holes when I need one for bowls and the like. Glad you like your new drill press. I think I may get one with the lazer if I should have to get a new one. THey are great to have for drilling a good straight hole. Take care Fay Going to hit the sack now
heppnerguy
Always good to have a new tool. I was looking at a sanding table to use with my dust collector and though $119 for something as simple as it, was a little silly so I just built my own..New tool equals new happiness. Enjoy your new drill press. Dick heppnerguy
Dan Page
Hey Sparkey I was just looking at that one last nigh online. I also have the 8 inch craftsman and I thin it is going on 25 years old and even set on my brothers porch for 7 years. It doesn't look like it would even run but it still does but is starting to make some noise. If I get one I think I want one with the lazer on it. Sparkey
Kevin I bought the Craftsman first. I got it home and put it together and it ran fine but one side of the lazer didn't work and the side that did work was way too bright. It was also made of real cheap plastic. I boxed it up and took it back. I went to Lowes and bought the Skill and the lazer is steel and much better quality.
