maine schroller
Hi guys, I was wondering if those of you here in the village could help me out. I have using lemon oil to bring out the grain on some of my projects as does steve good. But I cant seem to seal it good enough as it bleeds out and stains things it touches. Any suggestions if you have dealt with this, thanx
LarryEA
Ah, now my neck doesn't hurt when I talk to you. I don't use lemon oil. I use either BLO then coat with lacquer Or I use straight lacquer. Either accentuates the grain quite well. This makes 'curly' maple just POP. There are lemon users here so I'm sure you'll get a better answer. Travis
I let the lemon oil dry for a day or two. I usually dry them on cardboard or a bed of nails. Then I use a clear acrylic spray. I don't remember having any trouble with it staining. What's your humidity like. Perhaps that's slowing the drying time.
Phantom Scroller
As per Larry & Travis spray Lacquer does the job. Roly PS: I stopped using lemon oil and make my own coating of bees wax and mineral oil I LOVE IT! and a great smell with a nice sheen to it. I make it in small tubs and it lasts forever. RichieB
Never had any problems with lemon oil, I buff it hard between coats and it dries without any bleeding, and I don't normally put any other finish on top but I do sometime give it a coat of wax.
