KevinP
I just finished this mallard duck for a co-worker. Cut from a piece of 1/4 mesquite lumber. Lucky2 and Ron Johnson

amazingkevin
Nice, nice detailed job! I've never run across mesquite lumber yet. just me, but I would have the raw edge on the bottom .But it really doesn't matter!

wombatie
Great looking wood and a great cut. The only thing I would change is to do some more cutting and flare it out more because it looks too square on a long board. Marg

KevinP
Thanks for all the great compliments and advice. I agree with you Kevin about the raw edge, the piece was given to me with only one side of the raw edge on it and my wife said the same thing as you. Marg, I total agree with you about more cutting on the long board. I hated to cut off any of the wood and waste it because the mesquite looks so good finished, but being new to scrolling I haven't got the hang of pattern making this was a free pattern that I found online. I would have liked to cut more of the grass on the long board. Again thanks to all!

LarryEA
That duck looks great. Kevin, Some, like a bunch of us save scrap pieces. Make crosses, Christmas tree ornaments. And someone, maybe Frank(?) glues scrap pieces together and makes bowls. So don't waste it...USE it! Larry
Ron Johnson
Very beautiful Kevin. I like the wood you've chosen and myself I would not have cut to size either. As a suggestion I would add another medium to the ends to tie in with the subject. Excellent cutting.
