Coin Inlay Variation
MTCowpoke22 and 5 others reacted to hotshot for a topic
Still experimenting. Wanted to try to create some contrast for the gold (brass), and didn't have any "liver of sulphur" to create the patina, so I torched the Kennedy to oxidize it and turn it dark. When I put the seal on it, I think it may turn to a shiny black. Anyway, not sure if I like it yet, but it is always fun to experiment.6 points -

Fretwork from 1885, you will want to see this
SCROLLSAW703 and 2 others reacted to hotshot for a topic
This fretwork was found in First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, TN. From a distance, it looks like one piece, close up you can see how he put it together. I would love to see the saw he did this on. It could have been with a hand fretsaw, but I doubt it. I'm thinking early pedal powered model.3 points -

Done in 3/4 plywood ,#7 scroll reverse donated blades from hotshot ,not many left of his but others have donated different blades to me too.thank you friends.the boxes my Thailand friend made for his temple with monks in it.he had me scroll the bottom pieces (40) in 3/4 teak on his ryobe band saw.it would not do it so i had to take all to my shop and cut on the dewalt .piece of cake.now he texts me that he has an order for 40 to 50 more boxes .so that's 40 x4 pieces for me to scroll in mahogany this time or 50 x 4 pieces.Because it was for his temple i don't get payed .you would have thought he would have told me that before hand .Oh well water over the dam.I do have alot of fancy scrolled cut out pieces .i guess i could make key chains with them, lol well 4 picture are in my picture file but they will not load???1 point -

Base is popular 3/4 " by 4 long ,has 1/8'' dowel in each end to allow it to turn, It can be almost straight or "Z" shape, or square, I was using glass votive thought I would try this to see if it would work. The top is reduced from the round vase about 2" tall and 1/2 through the middle. cut with #3 FD blade and the base and top are from pine 1/4" Thanks for looking aND COMMENTS welcome Jerry.1 point -

I always kinda figured it was like having a handle back in the days of CB's. Your handle was your nickname and everyone knew you by that name. Me, I'm a clown and very proud of being one. My clown character name is Gonzo. People call me that whether I'm in costume or not. And I'm ok with that. Actually I'm pretty proud of that. Besides which, "Hey Gonzo!" Is a lot better than "Hey Dorkwad," Big big smile. Signed Gonzo or Matt or Dorkwad. Now I'm all confused.1 point

When I do delicate pictures I need a zero clearance table top. In the past I have made a 1/8" table top to put on my Ex with a little hole drilled in it for the blade and "zero" clearance. Over time the hole get bigger and bigger until there is no more zero clearance. When that happened I made a new table top. Last night it hit me, like duh, why replace the whole table top. Why not just drill a larger hole, make an insert kinda like my Hagner has. Here it is, took me about 15 minutes and I can easily make a supply of inserts to replace worn out ones. So simple.1 point

Well, Christian, I certainly agree that some people want to stay anonymous, and that is their right. I disagree that that is whole point of a forum. In my opinion, the whole point of a forum is to have a place where people from all over the world that have like interests can gather and discuss and share. Whether they are anonymous or not is of no consequence.1 point
